A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Although it’s labeled as a Chinese restaurant offering Mandarin, Szechuan, and Cantonese cuisine, we specifically came for Korean-Chinese dishes like Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong — and it absolutely delivered. First of all, the noodles are homemade, and you can really taste the difference. The texture was fresh and perfectly cooked. The portions are very generous. I ordered the Jajangmyeon and also tried the Jjamppong. The Jjamppong broth had great depth — rich, spicy, and full-bodied. It had a generous variety of seafood with large pieces, and it wasn’t watery or greasy. There wasn’t oil floating on top, just a well-balanced, flavorful soup. The Jajangmyeon was excellent as well. The sauce was balanced and not overpowering. If I had to suggest one small improvement, it could have had slightly more pork, as the vegetables and onions were a bit more prominent. Still, in terms of flavor, it’s a solid 5 out of 5. Another highlight was the complimentary tea service. Along with the meal, they bring a teapot (around a liter) of hot tea for the table, which is a very nice touch. They also include two fortune cookies and two large oat-style cookies as a courtesy — small details that elevate the experience. The water glasses were clean, and the water was fresh with ice — which we definitely appreciated. The service was wonderful. I asked for an apron (since I tend to spill noodles), and they kindly brought one right away. We also ordered sesame balls to go, and the staff member who helped us was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, making it easy to have a relaxed conversation. It’s located on a corner with booths that have street views, and the overall ambiance feels peaceful and pleasant. Definitely a place I would return to."
"I finally made it into this place after saying I would for two years! I love how this place looks on the outside, like it just popped out of a time capsule. I also love that there’s free parking in the attached lot. When we arrived we were seated right away. As expected from a traditional Chinese restaurant, the menu is extensive. What’s unexpected is the list of tropical cocktails and selection of beers, many of them Chinese. I personally loved the fun tiki glassware for the cocktails and the Buddha-shaped bottle of my Lucky Buddha beer. After reading the reviews, I had to get an egg roll. It was as gigantic as everyone says. I also got Hot and Sour soup, which was very tasty. The General Tao’s chicken was crispy and had a tiny bit of heat. A carafe of tea is also served to every table, which I thought was nice. Overall, I had a good experience here. The service was quick, although not entirely cordial. The food was good, the drinks were fun, and the prices were reasonable. I can definitely see myself coming here again."
"We have been coming here since their original location on Lincoln Avenue. This place has the absolute best Mongolian beef in Chicago. You don't need to go all the way to Chinatown for great Chinese food. This is the spot."
"Good selections of Korean style chinese dishes. Full flavors and fresh ingredients. Excellent JJAJANGMYEON (black bean noodles seen in K-dramas). Bit old interior. Prom attentive professional services!. Rare gem in the city. Love to go back!!!!"
"Service was great. The food was tasty and seasoned so good, we.didn’t need to add nothing. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, he made suggestions after asking what we liked. I see why the Mongolian beef is popular and the combination rice is a menu highlight. General Tso chicken and veggie egg roll were decent. Overall our dinner experience was enjoyable."
"Went for after-dinner snack on a weekend. It was busy but not crowded. I ordered the eggroll and potstickers. The eggroll has good size and texture, ok flavor, isn't greasy. The potstickers are old-school Chinese restaurant, with thick, chewy wrapping and flavorful stuffing. The dipping sauce was also ok. Paid with a card. I'll return to try other things."
"Excellent Korean Chinese food. I used to go to Peking mandarin but this is my new favorite. Deeeeeep flavor in the Samseon jjambong and very legitimate large pieces of seafood (fresh too!). The samseon jjajangmyun was also excellent. Very good noodles. Their pork tangsuyuk was just the way I like it…big pieces of meat with light flour. The only thing was that the tangsuyuk had a little bit of pig smell? The beef tangsuyuk also has the same smell. Maybe it came from the oil since they probably use the same oil for frying everything. Too notch though! And the Korean owner was very nice. She even separated the bowl of noodle without us asking for it!!!"
"For lunch I visited House of Wah Sun. What attracted me most was their lunch deal (which for the price is an incredible value). As part of the deal I ordered the Mongolian Beef with Egg Drop Soup and an Egg Roll. All of which was fairly good and left me plenty full. In an addition to that the services was very quick and attentive!"
